I live!

Well, I'm finally getting back to posting here. Life likes to throw curve balls now and then and between it and a computer in and out of the shop, and then a bit of writer's block, I found myself not doing much writing, and certainly not finishing anything!

However, I've got a few stories that have enough written to post a chapter or two on nifty, so I'll be doing that in the next day or so. So far, I have plans for three different stories - one will have a prologue posted within the week, and the other two will have a first chapter posted in that time as well. I hope this will keep me more on task and not so focused on finishing a whole story. Maybe having the goal of just finishing the next chapter will keep me writing more often.

A little info about each story!

The first one to be submitted is a modern tale, set in a business world. The inspiration behind it comes from yaoi manga that I have read. Chapter 1 is complete and is in editing now.

The second one is a fantasy story. The main character is a chimera of unknown origin. He's a smart-ass and I really enjoy writing his lines! The prologue for that story is nearly finished.

And the last one is another modern tale, but a kind of mystery story. It's a little more difficult to describe it, since there are several elements going in to it - the mystery is there, along with some romantic tension from an appearance of an ex-boyfriend for one of the characters. Chapter 1 is in the works and I hope to have it finished soon.

Sorry for the radio silence! I promise, I still have so many stories waiting to be shared, so once I can get things under control, I'll be a posting fool!

Back to work!

Ok, so now that I've got my laptop back, I really need to crack the whip on my writing. I have so many stories that are waiting for more work to be done. Normally, my writing style is I get a lot of ideas and write a little on each one until one of them stands out as a story that catches my attention and I focus on it exclusively until it is done. I think I know which one is demanding my attention now, so I just have to make myself work!

I am complete again!

There is nothing like having my laptop back! I feel whole once again! Now once things calm down I plan to do some serious writing!

Of course, while I had to resort to my old laptop, I came up with yet another story idea. I do that a lot. Finding the time and motivation to write them all is the harder part.

However, I'm looking forward to working more on one of my stories especially, and hope that I can get it finished in the next month or two. I think it may be my favorite of the stories I've worked on thus far, so I am excited!

What I'm reading.

I thought I might take a minute to share with you all the stories and books that I've been reading lately. All of these will fall under the category of male romance/erotica. I read a LOT of stories, both online and on my kindle app on my phone or computer, so rest assured, there will always be suggestions from me!

First, the nifty stories that I like. I'll admit, nifty requires a little digging to find a few hidden jewels. While I'm all about a little sex reading now and then, I think it is very important to have a plot in there too.

Probably my favorite nifty writer hands down has to be Tinnean. The first story I read by this author was "Mann of My Dreams" and it will forever be my favorite. Plenty of action, a great detailed plot, and of course, the requisite hot sex. There are a few other stories that explore some of the side characters' stories and they are just as well written.

Currently, I am enthralled with the series Remember Me, and anxiously await each new installment. The gut wrenching tension in this story is incredible and the hopeless romantic in me is screaming for things to work out in the end!

I got such a wonderful response from my first two submissions to Nifty that I decided it would be easier to have a central area to update when I have new stories available. So check back regularly for posts on stories I have in the works and what has recently been completed!

First, I did want to talk about myself a little. Randy Zak is a pen name. I sadly do not feel comfortable posting stories under my given name, for concern of how it might be taken if my hobby were discovered by my employer or others. It truly does bother me that I have to think that way, but unfortunately I do.

The reason I'm so uneasy about being traced is for many things. Perhaps most of all, because I am a female. I know that might be a surprise to some - and even too much of a surprise for a few - and for that I apologize. I had debated on whether to say anything or not, but I felt that I just could not keep that information a secret. I hope it will not color your opinion of me or my writing. While I am female, I often tell people I was a gay man in a former life.. And truly, sometimes it feels like it! I strive in all my stories to just tell a good romance, with a little loving for spice. I hope that my gender will not be an issue and I hope you will continue to enjoy these and future stories!


At this time, I have two stories posted to Nifty: Set Fire To The Rain and I Left My Heart In Cowboy Country. Both of these have gotten some very wonderful comments from you all and I cannot begin to express how much it means to me. I am glad to have written something that others have enjoyed, and will strive to create more stories for you!

I have upwards of 20 stories in the works right now. Sadly, I'm pretty limited in my writing at the moment due to being down a computer while it is being repaired. I am using my older laptop and it just does not have the speed for my patience level. All my files have been backed up, so I haven't lost any of my writing, but it is much more difficult to work on this one. But, muses strike in funny ways, so who knows what might happen!

Once again, I thank you all for your kind words and comments on my stories. It does mean a lot to me to hear your opinions. I will occasionally post to this blog with questions about story ideas or characters if I need a little outside input. I hope you will all be able to act as my sounding board.

My first time submitting...

Hehe, yeah, I know. Not that kind of submission. Although, I wouldn't be too opposed to it... ;)

No, today is a big day for me. For the first time ever, I have submitted something I wrote to be displayed somewhere. Normally, my writing never gets past any friends I share it with - or anyone they show it to - but this morning, I finally bit the bullet and sent one of my writings in to the Nifty archive. I admit to being pretty nervous! Personally, I think it's not too bad of a story, but I'm curious to get some input and opinions from people I don't know. I do a lot of reading on Nifty, so I thought that would be the best place to start. 

I'm also plugging away on several other stories. I have probably 20 + ideas in the works right now, and I'm rotating between several. I wish I could get one to capture my full attention, but apparently my muse doesn't work like that. The bastard. 

I'm going to look into ways to attach PDFs of my stories to this blog site or maybe just post them somewhere else. I need to get more input on them! The only way you grow and learn is to get feedback from others.

Inagural post!

This blog will be used for posting information about upcoming stories I'm writing. It will help me keep track of things and hopefully be used as a place for anyone interested to write comments, suggestions and give me input on my writing.
